Caregiver Coffee to be held April 11

Caregiver Coffee, an opportunity for family caregivers to take a break, gain practical information and connect with other caregivers in the community, will be held on Thursday, April 11 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at the Hjemkomst Center, 202 1st Ave. N. in Moorhead.

Caregiver Coffee is free and recommended for anyone who is caring for an aging loved one. The schedule of events includes presentations on, “The Mixed Emotions of a Caregiver” and “Hospice Doesn’t Mean Giving Up: The Myths and Facts of Hospice Care.”

Community Soup and Sandwich Feed to be Held in Valley City on April 3

The Valley City State University Pre-Professional Club will host a Community Soup and Sandwich Feed on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at the VFW – 138 E Main St. in Valley City.

The Community Soup and Sandwich Feed is open to the public. Tickets cost $7 per person; children under five eat for free. Tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting Hilde van Gijssel at 701-845-7337 or hilde.vangijssel@vcsu.edu. Tickets purchased in advance will be held at a will-call table. Tickets may also be purchased at the event.

Proceeds from the Feed will be used to advance the club, and a portion will be donated to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

The Pre-Professional Club at Valley City State University is for students interested in careers in the medical field, graduate school and law. The club helps students with the application process, provides volunteer opportunities, job shadowing and job observations hours, study sessions and mock admission tests, and anything else related to the admission process of professional programs.

Journeying Through Grief will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from April 17 – May 1. This is a three-session workshop for recently bereaved adults to help them understand their grief, explore methods of self-care and to embrace memories. The registration deadline is Monday, April 8.

All classes will be held at Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1240 West Main Street, Valley City, N.D.

Hospice of the Red River Valley Announces Spring Grief and Loss Workshops

Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering the following grief and loss programs this spring. Registration is required and space is limited.

Journeying Through Grief will beheld from 5:30-7 p.m. on Mondays from April 8 – 29. This is a four-session workshop for recently bereaved adults to help them understand their grief, explore methods of self-care and to embrace memories. The registration deadline is Wednesday, April 3, and the registration fee is $20.

Youth Journeys will be held Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This program is for young people, ages 6-18, who have lost a loved one through death. A portion of the day will include parent/guardian participation. Registration is required by April 22.

Naytahwaush Nightriders Ride for Hospice of the Red River Valley Raises $6,080

Tom McArthur presents a check to Joy Crouch with HRRV.5The Naytahwaush Nightriders Snowmobile Club announced this year’s Ride for Hospice raised $6,080 for Hospice of the Red River Valley. In nine years of the ride, the Nightriders have raised $61,572 to help provide hospice care to patients and families in Naytahwaush and surrounding areas.

This year’s event was held February 9-10, 2013, with results announced on March 2. Carrot and Judy Paul won the award for raising the most pledges, more than $1,400.
