Annual Report
Heart is one of the most meaningful images associated with
hospice care. In our 2007 annual report, we are proud to share
letters from you and stories about us that demonstrate the power
of heart in its countless facets.
Keeping the heart in hospice is a common mantra as the industry
braces for future reimbursement reductions that seem all but
inevitable. This is of particular concern to hospices like we, whose
mission includes service to the most rural regions in the country.
How do we continue to provide such extraordinary services to dying
people and their families with resources likely to shrink?
Once again, we are called upon to think outside the box. As
responsible stewards of both public and private funds, we are
preparing for another wave of change. We hope, of course, that it
won’t be tsunami in size, but we are working intensely, nonetheless.
Our mission requires nothing less of us.
Learning from and sharing with sister hospices around the country,
we began reinventing ourselves in 2007. Many operational changes
began late last fall and have continued into 2008, with these goals
in mind:
1) increased census;
2) improved clinical efficiency;
3) improved patient access to care, and
4) enhanced friend and fund raising.
The structure keeps changing, but each version is built on the same
foundation: HEART!
Hospice of the Red River Valley has been evolving for more than 27
years. Heart for this work, beginning with our tenacious founders
and carried daily into homes and lives is, quite simply, our fuel.
Caregivers, staff, volunteers, donors, board members...all fueled
with hearts full of compassion, courage and the dedication needed
to bring comfort to people at the ends of their lives’ journeys.
Your hearts - and ours - are in the right place.
