Roxanne Smedsrud, RN, CHPN, has successfully completed the Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN). Smedsrud works as a clinical education specialist for Hospice of the Red River Valley. She has been employed with the agency for 20 years. Smedsrud attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, N.D., to become a registered nurse.
The purpose of certification is to promote delivery of comprehensive palliative nursing care through the certification of qualified hospice and palliative professionals. Certification in hospice and palliative care is highly valued and provides formal recognition of hospice and palliative nursing or administration knowledge.
