As a Hospice volunteer, you are part of a team with the potential to make a great impact on your community. The reasons people volunteer are many: to support the work of hospice and its cause, to give back, meet new people, learn new skills and, most of all, because they love it.
We have four categories of volunteers at Hospice of the Red River Valley:
Patient Care Volunteers
Assist our patients and their families with tasks such as running errands, light house keeping or fixing a meal, or by providing companionship to the patient so their loved one may take a break. In a facility or hospital, volunteers may offer companionship visits which could include reading, visiting and other one-to-one activities.
Pathway volunteers provide support for the patient and family while the patient is in the last two to three days of life. They are available on an on-call basis to sit at the bedside of the patient and can offer a hand to hold, maybe play music or simply to just be there when no one else can.
All patient care volunteers are considered part of the clinical team. Their input and feedback is valuable and needed.

Office Volunteers
Assist with filing, data entry, mailings, answer phones and other tasks.
Public Relations Volunteers
Help promote Hospice of the Red River Valley by assisting with fundraising, special events and staffing exhibits at health and wellness fairs.
Heirlooms Volunteers
Assist with day-to-day operations at our thrift store in Fargo.
