We ask volunteers to commit to our program for at least six months. We strive to have the same volunteer with a patient throughout the time he/she is on our services. If a potential volunteer needs a limited number of hours and cannot commit to six months, we may deny entry into the volunteer program.
An exception is made for college students available for only one semester. We will allow these students to volunteer if they commit for the entire duration of the semester.
The majority of our volunteers help from one to four hours a week. We work with each volunteer’s schedule and coordinate volunteer hours based on his or her availability and on our patients’ and families’ needs.
Heirlooms volunteers usually work in four-hour blocks of time during regular store hours. Heirlooms volunteers may be scheduled as often or as little as they wish.
