Types of volunteers

There are a variety of ways Hospice of the Red River Valley volunteers assist the organization:

Grandmother Showing Granddaughter How To KnitPatient Care Volunteers

Patient care volunteers assist our patients and their families. Tasks are varied, such as running errands, light housekeeping, fixing a meal or providing companionship to the patient so a caregiver may take a break. In a facility or hospital, volunteers offer companionship visits, which may include reading, visiting and other one-on-one activities.

Office Volunteers

Office volunteers greet visitors, assist with filing, data entry, mailings and other tasks.

Special Event Volunteers

Special event volunteers help promote Hospice of the Red River Valley by assisting with fundraising events and hosting booths at health and wellness fairs.

Heirlooms Thrift & Gift Volunteers

Heirlooms Thrift & Gift volunteers have a strong sense of customer service and assist with the day-to-day operations of our upscale resale store, Heirlooms Thrift & Gift, in Fargo. Duties may include sorting, receiving or using the cash register.

Have a special talent or skill?

We are always in need of individuals with special skills, such as hair stylists, pet therapists and massage therapists, to provide additional comfort and care to our patients. We also seek volunteers for special sewing projects or to make deliveries as couriers.
