Kapaun and Hanson Earn National Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification

Amy Kapaun, RN, CHPN, and Karen Hanson, RN, CHPN, successfully completed the Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN).

Kapaun works as a call center supervisor at Hospice of the Red River Valley. She has been employed with the agency for 10 years. Kapaun earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Concordia College, both located in Moorhead, Minn.

Hanson has worked as a registered nurse (RN) for Hospice of the Red River Valley for more than two years. She earned an associate degree at Fergus Falls Community College in Fergus Falls, Minn.

The purpose of certification is to promote delivery of comprehensive palliative nursing care through the certification of qualified hospice and palliative professionals. Certification in hospice and palliative care is highly valued and provides formal recognition of hospice and palliative nursing or administration knowledge.
