We live in an age of physicians being trained to cure and fix everything as patients and their families believe in the miracles of modern health care, according to Tricia Langlois.
But that devotion to modern-day treatments and interventions has led to an unexpected problem—it’s made it difficult to talk about the best care for a loved one with dementia.
“When does extraordinary medical care start to become a burden to the patient and the family?” asked Langlois, medical director for Hospice of the Red River Valley.
