How to Manage Grief Around Mother’s Day

Kriston Wenzel, Hospice of the Red River Valley grief specialist, shares tips on how you can manage the grief you may feel around Mother’s Day.

Grief on special days can be overwhelming. Honor your grief by allowing yourself to feel the way you need to feel. Give yourself permission to honor the feelings you’re having and then continue with the rest of your day.

This day is also a great opportunity to send a card or something special to a person who was important in your mom’s life. There’s a good chance the person may already be thinking of your mom, too. By showing the person you are thinking about them, you can honor and respect your mom’s memory and demonstrate how special she was to others in the world.
