Ready for Palliative Care?

If you or a loved one lives with a serious disease, you want relief from the pain and symptoms and the stress and anxiety that comes with the illness. Palliative care can be provided earlier in the disease process and does not require a six-month prognosis. You or a loved one may want palliative care if you have a serious illness and experience one or more of the following:

  • Unacceptable level of pain
  • Uncontrolled symptoms, such as nausea, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue or shortness of breath
  • Progressive decline despite aggressive treatment
  • Frequent ER visits
  • More than one hospital admission
  • Need or desire advance care planning
  • Need or desire for education about disease process or progression

Palliative care works alongside and does not replace your ongoing treatments. Starting palliative care is as easy as asking for it. Tell your health care provider you’d like to add the specialists from Red River Valley Palliative Care to your medical team.
