The public is invited to Hospice of the Red River Valley’s upcoming Lunch and Learn. Lunch and Learns are held on the second Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November.

Upcoming Session

The next session will be held Tuesday, March 12, from noon – 1 p.m. Alzheimer’s Association Community Educator and BSW Social Work Intern, Mary Heil, will present “Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal & Financial Planning.”

When someone is showing signs of dementia, it’s time to talk. Often, conversations with family about changing behaviors can be challenging and uncomfortable. This program provides tips for breaking the ice with your family so you can address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care.

Session Objectives:

• Provide tips on how to “break the ice” and have the most common difficult conversations.
• Help you plan ahead and build a care team that communicates well.
• Give you the opportunity to hear from people who are dealing with similar issues.
• Connect you with helpful resources.

Continuing Education

Hospice of the Red River Valley is an approved provider of continuing education for social workers in North Dakota. This program will be awarded 1 CEU credit.

This Lunch and Learn will be held virtually/online. Attendees will receive a link for the online meeting upon registration the day of the presentation.
